Comments:

I had my Bat Mitzah in the year 2000.
I did the "Avon Breast Cancer Walk" a few days before I was 6o years old.
And I have been traveling around the States on a Motorcycle. I sit behind my Husband on the cycle. No, I don't drive my own and I can't ride my Husband's {it is to big for me to straddle}. If we had more room in the garage, I would purchase a "Spyder" (trike).
I have been Married for 46 1/2 years to a "Great Guy", even though he graduated from Evanston High School.
I will always be thankful to Elaine Hirsch Cornbleet for fixing me up on a blind date with Fred.

Do you have a favorite school story or a funny memory?

The 4 years were a bit tough for me since I was never aware that I had "ADD" and dislexia. (My sensitive (?) husband used to say that I had my own disease, which he named "ditzetsia" (being ditzy).)
I was lucky to have so many special and good friends.
When I looked around at the football field after graduation and saw my classmates, some from elementary school and I really felt bad that so many of these friends will be going into so many directions and I will never see some of them again.
This is the reason I love these Reunions because we get together and talk and no one cares if you're successful, just that you're at the reunion.
Hope to see all of you at the next reunion.
And my "funny story".....I had my Prom photo taken after I had been swimming in gym class, no hair drying...just a drippy ponytail!
And standing outside in the center of the school wearing a towel around my head and one around my body during a "Fire Drill". I would need many more towels now!

What would your 1964 self have to say to your present day self?

That I made alot of good choices thru the years and I know I have learned from my mistakes. "Shelly you did Fine"!

What is on your bucket list?

Traveling more.
Enjoying retirement.
Keeping healthy and strong
Seeing my Grandkids grow up and becoming successful adults.
Remembering more things to put on this list.

What is your special motto?

"Eat it today...wear it tomorrow!"

I knew Nick in Grammert School, Jr, High and High School.  I remember that I sat behind MIck in my Freshman English Class.  He always got good grades!  I was jealousy because it came so easily for him and I had to study so hard. I hated the book of "Tale of Two Cities", and as ususl he got a better grade than I did

.I was sorry that I never heard his Music.  I do know that someone is hearing it now!

Love to you Mick!

My Sophmore, Junior and Senior year I sat next to Susan in Choir.  I was always hoping that Sue would come to 1 of the reunions and that we could talk.  She was a special Lady and I know she will be missed by so many.  My heart goes out to her family.  I will never forget her smile.

It is hard to write about the loss of Al.  He had become a special friend since the 1st reunion.  He loved attending all of the meetings and being with his classmates.  One day we had a meeting at his apartment and he had everything set up for us.  Then, during the meeting, we found out that he was sick and had a temperature (caused by an infection).  I knew when I first saw him at the meeting that something wasn't right with him.  Al didn’t want to cancel the meeting at his home because he didn’t want to disappoint the group…but, eventually, we persuaded Al to go to the hospital.

After the last reunion, Al told me that this would be his last.  I cried because I just couldn't think what it would be like to not hear his soft voice and his warm hugs.

A small group of friends met at a restaurant before the last reunion, and Al was late to arrive.  We tried to call his cell, and then we remembered that he didn't answer it when he was driving.  When he finally arrived, he was walking so slowly and his breathing was exaggerated…he just didn't look good.  Many thanks to Rick for following Al home that night, making sure that Al got there safely.

Every time after the reunion committee dinner meeting that I saw Al was a gift, because I felt so happy to see him.

Barry and Al had planned to go to see the White Sox play during spring training this past March, and they invited my husband, Fred, to join them.  Being a lifelong White Sox fan and friend of Al and Barry, Fred was eager to join them.  Unfortunately, Al’s illness prevented him from making the trip to Arizona.  Barry told Al that he (Barry) was unable to make the trip to Arizona…so that Al would not think that he (Al) has caused the cancelation.

Al is now with his best friend, his brother who died a few years ago.  It is touching to see how much he is missed by so many.  I will miss the "Big Guy", and everytime I see a big man in a wrinkled Hawaiian shirt, I will remember Al’s smile (a smile so strong that it could not be hidden by his "Jerry Garcia look").

Hey, when will you be back in town? Al would like to see the "Old Gang".

I know you had a good time this past weekend and I'm so glad you were able to help us out with this reunion. I'm sorry we didn't have time to sit down and talk. Your Guy is a cutie. Maybe sometime we can double date. Happy Fall to you and your family!
