Lee and I were married 56 years ago. All of our kids (3) and their kids (10) live nearby. Hallie and Peter have Caleb (25), Anna (23), Samuel (19),Avigail (17), & Simon (15). Sara and Joe have Luke (12), and Nora (10). Annie and Frank have Tate (18), & McLean (16), and Bowen Walter (13).

Lee was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on 2/14/19. She did 6 rounds of very aggressive chemo and then had a nine hour “Whipple” surgery on 7/8. Three days later pathology showed NO CANCER. Finished the year with 6 more rounds of chemo. Lee and our family are truly blessed!!!!!

I was an Elementary school teacher for 4 years out of college. Then I spent 35 years in Sales/Sales Mgt...mostly in ophthalmology. I had my own Search Firm for 5 years, and I am still making some placements in retirement.
We have a cottage in Michigan that is special to the whole family and now we get to spend much more time there. Lee and I stay in shape walking, riding bikes, & chasing grandchildren.

Do you have a favorite school story or a funny memory?

I will miss Bruce David...both from High School ("Ramgren, Ramgren,...") and at Drake University. I have introduced his "name-calling" in several venues. Always fun.

I also am missing Coach Odlivak. He told those of us on the Baseball team that "It's OK to go to the Prom, so long as you're home by midnight. Anything that you need to do can be done by midnight". Then, as the bus was ready to leave for a double header to Oak Park that next morning (Saturday) at 7:30, he was not pleased as two of us boarded the bus in our tuxes. Nick Odlivak had a very positive impact on my life.

Baseball at Niles East High school brought Al and I together. Our team had great success and many characters who knew how to support each other, laugh, and work to achieve. Al was smart, funny, genuine, and an all-around excellent guy! Though our meetings were few and far between since high school, we occasionally emailed, and our friendship never wavered. I am extremely sad today, but so much the better for having known my good friend!
